TALLADEGA — Kelvin Cunningham Jr. is packing his bags and heading to China.

The 14-year-old Talladega High School student was chosen as a People to People Ambassador and will take a 17-day trip to China, where he will visit Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Wuzhen and Hong Kong.

“I wouldn’t say I’m nervous but I am excited, too excited,” Cunningham said. “I’m excited about learning China’s culture and seeing the Great Wall.”

The Great Wall of China in Beijing is just one of several destinations on the trip.

On the “Great Wall and Beyond” trip, students in grades nine through 12 will get see pandas at the Beijing Zoo, visit The Forbidden City, the Peking Opera and Victoria Peak, while also discovering the daily lives of those living in smaller villages in China.
